Benefits of e-learning

There is no doubt that attending a live seminar or one-to-one training with a tutor can be one of the most effective ways of learning. But, with the dreaded economic downturns and budget cuts, attending seminars, especially for health professionals, can be extremely difficult. Not just the cost, which can range from £100-£300 per delegate, but also the logistical nightmare of being away from home.

Cardio Rhythms Online is an invaluable training resource for beginners through to mentors, and we are starting with the material from our original two-day ECG interpretation course. We have endeavoured to replicate as closely as possible the seminars as you would experience them in person. So this means that as well as seeing the slides you can also hear the audio, download the script, watch animated diagrams, and get hands on practice with numerous clinical case studies.

Ok, so not everyone wants to sit in front of their computer to be taught, but there are some advantages to this…………

  • Learning can be scheduled around personal and professional work
  • Substantial reduction in cost of training
  • Students may opt to only select the subject areas that meet their level of knowledge and interest
  • Self-paced modules allow students to work at their own speed
  • Compared to our live seminars the online modules are not constrained by the 9-5 time limit. Therefore they contain much more information, and many more ECG case studies
  • Modules can be viewed time and time again in the comfort of your home or place of work
  • E-learning encourages students to take responsibility for their own learning

If you do opt for the e-learning route we definitely want to make your experience a good one. Obviously the main disadvantage of not attending a live seminar is the opportunity to interact with the tutor and ask specific questions. We have addressed this issue in two ways: Firstly, this blog, which will have links to “frequently asked questions” pertaining to each module. Secondly, you can privately email your ECG questions anytime; it keeps me on my toes, I love teaching, and I’m always happy to help!

If e-learning is something you are interested in why not start straight away with some of the free modules on the website, there is plenty of complimentary stuff to get you going and you don’t even have to register. Try before you buy – see if you like it and also see if it works on your computer! Happy rhythms……
